PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminator capable of beautifully finishing lamination treatment without performing end edge treatment after the lamination treatment to a medium to be recorded, and a lamination method. SOLUTION: In the laminator for forming a laminate layer on the recording surface of a sheetlike medium A to be recorded and a lamination method using it, guide members 84 and 84' having first guide surfaces 84a and 84a' and the second guide surfaces 84c and 84c' inclined with respect to the first guide surfaces at an obtuse angle are provided in the vicinity of the downstream side of a spaced apart position Q, where the surface on the side opposite to the recording surface of the medium A and means E and 41 to be transferred are spaced apart from each other in the feed direction X of the medium A. The guide members 84 and 84' are arranged in a state that the upstream end parts 84b and 84b' of the second guide surface is displaced in the spaced-apart direction of the means E and 41 to be transferred of the feed passage of the medium A on the upstream side of the guide members 84 and 84'.
