<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure optimum fixing ability to meet low temperature environment by estimating the temperature of a pressure means forming a nip part by press-contacting with a heating means for heating recording material without increasing the number of temperature detection means. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the image is thermally fixed on the recording material by holding and carrying the recording material by a nip part formed by the heating means and the pressure means. A control means performs control so that the temperature of the heating means may be first temperature when a driving means for driving and rotating the heating means or the pressure means is stopped, and varies the control on the first temperature of the heating means based on the temperature of the heating means detected by the temperature detection means and the first temperature at a fixed time set previously after the driving means starts the driving. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
