Method to accelerate the connection set up between switched subscribers

The subscribers (1-3) are switched especially via an ATM coupling network (4). The method involves using pre-set connection channels for connections between the subscribers and when one of the subscribers wishes to set up a connection he uses one of these prepared channel for the connection. The connection parameters that activate coupling network elements correspecially to a connection requirement are temporarily stored without requiring prior access to routing tables for the ATM coupling network. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
