PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device capable of economizing power consumption by an obstacle sensing means. SOLUTION: In the opening and closing device equipped with an opening and closing body 10 capable of making closing operation by sliding a closing direction side site and the obstacle sensing means 50 as the obstacle sensing means consuming electric power in a state to enable the obstacle to sense and sensing an obstacle on the side in the closing direction from the opening and closing body 10, in the case the opening and closing body 10 is located within a predetermined range during the closing operation, the electric power is supplied to the obstacle sensing means 50, and in the case other than that, there is a state to supply no electric power to the obstacle sensing means 50.
