PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal detector capable of improving detection performance sharply capable of maintaining the stability of the electric output without increased electric power consumption so much. SOLUTION: The metal detector 1 for detecting a metallic body generates alternative magnetic field around a periphery for making the metallic body generate an eddy current, and acquires the secondary magnetic field induced thereby. By detecting the change of the alternative magnetic field, the existence of the metallic body is detected. A detection part 2 of the metal detector 1 is constituted of a transmission antenna coil 5 for making generate the magnetic field around the periphery, an auxiliary transmission antenna coil 6 of a separated body for generating the magnetic field around the periphery, and a reception antenna coil 7 for acquiring the generated secondary magnetic field.
