PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide porous titanium oxide having a fine, thick porous film obtainable by anodization for metallic titanium, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The porous titanium oxide is formed by subjecting metallic titanium to anodization in an electrolytic solution, and is characterized in that the thickness of an oxide film is≥0.8μm.
