PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode catalyst having higher catalytic activity.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrode catalyst by supporting platinum fine particles on a conductive carrier in a reduced state includes a process for adding hydrazine to a platinum chloride solution with a pH of 1-7 in which the conductive carrier is dispersed at an adding speed of 1 pH/min or below to adjust the pH of the solution at 25°C or below to 2-8.
