<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic-made pinch roll capable of excellently suppressing generation of seizure by forming a surface of the pinch roller in contact with a steel strip of ceramic. <P>SOLUTION: In the pinch roll, a ceramic-made sleeve consisting of a sintered compact consisting mainly of silicon nitride is fitted to an outer circumference of a metallic shaft. The heat conductivity at ordinary temperature of the sleeve is ≥ 50W/(m × K). The relative density of the sleeve is ≥ 98%, and the four-point bending strength of the sleeve at ordinary temperature is ≥ 700 MPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
