PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tensioner body for a hydraulic tensioner at a low cost. SOLUTION: This tensioner body 2 for a hydraulic tensioner is provided for supporting a piston 3 slidably to be applied to a chain to generate tension. It is provided with a piston hole 2a extended in the X-direction, and opened at one end to store the piston 3, and a pole hole 2b extended in the Y-direction perpendicularly to the disposition direction of the piston hole 2a, and communicates with the piston hole 2a to penetrate the tensioner body 2 in the Y- and Z-directions.
