METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CELL GROWTH AND THE LIKE USING Jab1/COP9 SIGNALOSOME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling cell growth and the like using Jab/COP9 signalosome.

SOLUTION: The method is to regulate growth, death, differentiation or canceration of animal cells by controlling expression of Jab1 gene or activity of Jab1 protein. For example, a method for suppressing growth of cancer cells and primary cells by suppressing expression of Jab1 gene is cited. Primary cell growth can be accelerated by promoting expression of Jab1 gene. Animals and cells in which Jab1 gene is destroyed/modified can be used for developing diagnostic and therapeutic methods for various diseases such as cancers, inflammation diseases and the like and screening therapeutic agents.
