PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which can be made small/thin in size not by bending an optical path but by reducing the number of constituent lenses and to provide an electronic imaging apparatus having the same. SOLUTION: The zoom lens has a first lens group G1 consisting of one negative lens component L11 having an aspherical surface and a second lens group G2 consisting of two lens components of a positive lens L21 and a negative lens L22 and having a positive refracting power as the whole, in order from the object side and satisfies 0.15<t<SB>1</SB>/fw<0.6 wherein t<SB>1</SB>is the thickness on the optical axis of the first lens group and fw is the focal length of an entire system at a wide angle end of the zoom lens. One lens component is a simple or cemented lens or a cemented doublet having resin or the like hardened in close contact with a lens surface thereof.
