PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumb-turn device preventing a thumb-turn rotation. SOLUTION: The thumb-turn device has a thumb-turn shaft 12 forward moving and retracting a dead bolt 3 by a rotary operation, a knob 30 capable of being detachably engaged with the thumb-turn shaft 12 and rotating the thumb-turn shaft 12 by an engagement with the thumb-turn shaft 12, a mounting seat 20 holding a knob 30 in a manner that the knob 30 cannot be slipped off and a cover 40 covered on the mounting seat 20. The thumb-turn shaft 12 is held rotatably to the mounting seat 20, and the front end section of the knob 30 is held to a recessed section 21 formed to the mounting seat 20 in the manner that the front end section of the knob 30 cannot be slipped off. The engaged state of the knob 30 and the thumb-turn shaft 12 can be held by magnetically attracting a magnet 37 fitted to the knob 30 to a screw 16 set up to the thumb-turn shaft 12.
