PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus obtaining a sufficient image without any writing mis-registration of an image at the top end part of a sheet. SOLUTION: Incorrect conveyance immediately before starting sheet carrying is prevented since teeth of a gear 41 and pawls of a stopper 42 are fixed without dislocation by engagement of the stopper 42 into the teeth of the gear 41 mounted on the edge of a rotational axis of a resist roller 20b until energization of a main motor 20c is cut after at least a resist sensor 20a no longer detects the sheet after starting the sheet carrying.
