PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa) leaf extract containing corosolic acid by ≥9 mass % based on its dried mass.

SOLUTION: This method for producing a banaba leaf extract containing corosolic acid by ≥9 mass % based on its dried mass comprises a process of obtaining crude extract liquid by extracting the banaba leaves with an aqueous solution containing 60-100 vol. % ethanol, a process of obtaining a treated liquid having an increased corosolic acid content by treating the obtained crude extract liquid with 10-20 mass % activated carbon based on 100 pts. mass dried banaba leaf mass, and a process of separating the precipitate in the concentrated liquid obtained by concentrating and recovering the precipitated material.
