PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of data merge transfer by enabling data merged immediately after the completion of read to be sent to a storage part. SOLUTION: This bridge device 2 is for interconnecting the buses of two different kinds of protocols. In a system where at least the other of the buses handles only fixed-length data, if the data length of one of the buses is less than the fixed length of the other of the buses when data are written from the one of the buses to the storage part 4 of the other of the buses, first the fixed-length data are read from the storage part 4 of the other of the buses and merged with data sent from the one of the buses, and, when the data merged are written into the storage part 4 of the other of the buses, a processing part 11 issues a read request for reading the fixed-length data from the storage part 4 and then issues a write-back request for writing the data into the storage part 4.
