PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply power to a print head in a printer from a power source without using a cable with a high current capacity and to enhance the portability of the printer. SOLUTION: An on-carriage unit 1 is used in a color printer such as a color inkjet printer or the like and has four ink ejection mechanisms 3, 5, 7, 9 provided corresponding to inks of black, cyan, magenta and yellow, respectively. The ink ejection mechanism 3 for black ink, ink ejection mechanism 5 for cyan ink, ink ejection mechanism 7 for magenta ink, and ink ejection mechanism 9 for yellow ink have the same structure, and each of the ink ejection mechanisms 3, 5, 7, 9 is equipped with an ink cartridge 13 having a dry battery 11 mounted thereon, a driving circuit 15 and an actuator 17 forming the print head.
