PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase cooling capacity and heating capacity in a refrigerating cycle by preventing heat loss. SOLUTION: A compression mechanism 50, a motor 45, and an expansion mechanism 60 are disposed in a closed casing 31 in that order, and connected to a refrigerant circuit for performing a steam compression type refrigerating cycle. A discharge pipe 37 leading a high temperature and high pressure refrigerant in the compression mechanism 50 to the outside of the casing 31 and a suction pipe 36 leading a low temperature and low pressure refrigerant from the outside of the casing (31) to an internal space are installed in the casing 31. The suction pipe 36 is opened toward the expansion mechanism 60. Thus, since the expansion mechanism 60 is prevented from being heated by the high temperature refrigerant in the compression mechanism 50 and the high temperature refrigerant from being cooled by the expansion mechanism 60, the heat loss of the compressed refrigerant and the expanded refrigerant can be prevented.
