The warning system (1) for a vehicle, to alert a driver sleeping at the wheel, has a sensor (8) which registers the reaction capability of the driver. The sensor is linked to a signal unit (6). Should the driver's reaction become slow, and registered as such by the sensor, the signal unit generates a warning signal through a link (5) to a vibration unit (4) in the driver's seat (2) using an electromotor and a massage mechanism. The intensity of the vibration in the seat is increased over time.
