A quick connector 10 for connecting a flexible tube 12 to a mating pipe 14, the connector 10 comprising a retainer 34 engaging a retainer holding portion 20, said retainer also axially engaging an external detent 16 on the mating pipe, the retainer holding portion having a tube connecting portion 22 having a plurality of annular projections 46, the part 54 between the retainer holding portion 20 and its nearest annular projection 46-2 being gradually tapered(or reducing in diameter) such that the narrowest tapered part is adjacent the said nearest annular projection 46-2 with the diameter of said narrowest tapered part being larger than diameter of the sections between the annular projections 48. A seal 26 is interposed between the mating pipe and the retainer holding portion. The nearest annular projection 46-2 may be larger than the other annular projections, its diameter being larger that the largest diameter of the tapered part. |
