VITRIFIED GRINDING WHEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vitrified grinding wheel which uses mixture of different kinds of abrasive grains different in their characteristics to improve the grinding performance. SOLUTION: This vitrified grinding wheel contains first monocrystal alumina abrasive grains and second monocrystal alumina abrasive grains having lower strength and higher tenacity as compared with the first one, so that the volume ratio of the first monocrystal alumina abrasive grains to the second monocrystal alumina abrasive grains ranges from 70:30 to 97:3. The first monocrystal alumina abrasive grains are obtained by mechanically crushing the alumina crystal. The second monocrystal alumina abrasive grain is obtained by dissolving intergranular inclusion of the alumina crystal to crush the alumina crystal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
