<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection apparatus 1 using an electric type low pressure pump 5, capable of quickly dropping common rail pressure when it is necessary to drop common rail pressure. <P>SOLUTION: A control means 9 of the fuel injection apparatus 1 determines the state of the fuel injection apparatus 1 to be in a common rail pressure drop period when an injection quantity command value by an injector 10 has a tendency to fall, that is, when a fuel demand quantity from an engine falls. Upon determining the state of the fuel injection apparatus 1 to be in the common rail pressure drop period, composition and output of a motor driving signal for driving an electric motor 3 is stopped.
