PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized structure that can transmit a high frequency in a semiconductor laser module and an optical transmitter using the module. SOLUTION: In the semiconductor laser module, a semiconductor laser element is airtightly housed through a stem having a glass-sealed coaxial section and a conductive pattern is formed on a heat radiating substrate from the coaxial section of the stem to the semiconductor laser element. In addition, the coaxial section of the stem and semiconductor laser element are connected to each other by wire boding or soldering. The impedance Z<SB>1</SB>, Z<SB>2</SB>, and Z<SB>3</SB>of the conductive pattern formed on the heat radiating substrate, the coaxial section of the stem, and the lead mounting section of the semiconductor laser module are adjusted to meet a relation of Z<SB>1</SB>≤Z<SB>2</SB><Z<SB>3</SB>or Z<SB>3</SB>>Z<SB>1</SB>>Z<SB>2</SB>.
