PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance an image quality of a multivalued printer representing ternary or higher densities per pixel. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer discharges ink continuously to each pixel during main scanning and represents many gradations for each pixel according to the number of the dots. In this operation, a relationship between a gradient of image data and a dot formation pattern is set differently between black and other colors. Black dots to be formed for each pixel are formed by two scannings, that is, an amount of ink to be discharged to each pixel in one main scanning is set to be smaller than the other colors. The bleeding of the black dots is suppressed thereby, so that the image quality improves. In a printer provided with more black nozzles than the other color ones, the image quality is improved without lowering a printing speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
