PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information device provided with an electronic book function by which a page referred by bookmark information is opened with transfer between books with less operation amount than in the conventional case by referring to the bookmark information when plurality of pieces of book data are alternately read and written. SOLUTION: The portable information device is provided with: a bookmark registration means (S30) for storing the bookmark information consisting of names and pages of the displayed book data; a bookmark reading means for reading the bookmark information registered by the bookmark registration means during display of the book data; and a control means for closing the book data under display, opening the book data with the read name and displaying the read page (S41 to S42) when the name of the book data of the bookmark information read by the bookmark reading means is different from the name of the book data under display and displaying the read page in the book data under display (S44) when the name of the book data of the bookmark information read by the bookmark reading means is the same as the book data under display.
