<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the communication time required for data transmission and save a communication cost by reducing the data quantity of a photographed image to be transmitted even in detecting a moving object in a monitoring apparatus for remote monitoring. <P>SOLUTION: When the moving object is detected, an image in a smallest area (rectangle 28) including a moving object portion 27 is extracted from a picked-up image, and transmission data are formed on the basis of this extracted image. In this way, the image quantity per frame of a photographed image to be transmitted in detecting the moving object can be reduced. Also, the data of the extracted image are transmitted only when the moving object is detected, the number of times of data transmission can be reduced. Accordingly, the quantity of data to be transmitted is reduced and the communication time required for data transmission can be shortened and communication cost can be saved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
