PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating device for a container handling vehicle which is capable of reducing the number of operation switches as much as possible, inexpensive, conveniently portable, and excellent in operability even when a radio type operating device is employed. SOLUTION: In the container handling vehicle in which the loading/unloading operation to load/unload a container between a vehicle body and the ground and a dumping operation to tilt the container backwardly on the vehicle body are performed by a cargo handling unit, an operating device 3 to operate the cargo handling unit is radio-operated. The operating device 3 comprises a change-over switch 31 to change over the loading/unloading operation and the dumping operation, an upper switch 32 to lift the container from the ground and load the container onto the vehicle body when the loading/unloading operation is selected by the change-over switch 31, and to tilt the container upwardly when the dumping operation is selected, and a lower switch 33 to unload the container on the ground from the vehicle body when the loading/unloading operation is selected by the change-over switch, and to collapse the container downwardly when the dumping operation is selected.
