PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device, such as a liquid crystal display device, which can realize suppression of vertical luminance unevenness at low cost, a method for driving the electro-optic device, and electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a D/A converter which divides high-potential-side and low-potential-side reference potentials VdacH and VdacL through a resistance to generate a data signal having a potential corresponding to the grading of digital display data, and writes data signals with the positive polarity and negative polarity to respective pixels alternately, frame by frame. Both the VdacH and VdacL are given a gradient within one frame. In a negative field, the both are given a gradient of linear descent with time (t) and in a positive field, the both are given a gradient of ascent with the time (t). Potentials obtained by dividing VdacH and VdacL through the resistance linearly drop to LCCOM in the negative field and linearly rise to LCCOM in the positive field.
