<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, which has high thermal durability. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is composed of a catalyst depositing layer and a noble metal catalyst and a NOx storage material which are deposited on the catalyst depositing layer. A compound oxide which is shown by the formula: A<SB>x</SB>B<SB>y</SB>O<SB>z</SB>(wherein A is at least one metal selected from alkali metals and alkaline-earth metals; B is at least one metal selected from transition metals and rare-earth metals; 0<x<8; 0<y<22; 0<z<59) and has ≤50 nm particle size is used as the NOx storage material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
