PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate a gasifying speed with partial combustion by uniformly gasifying gasified objects as a whole while keeping the accumulation heights of the gasified objects to be charged into a furnace at almost the same level. SOLUTION: This shaft type gasifying melting furnace comprises a main tuyere 2 provided at the lower part of a furnace side wall, a sub tuyere 3 provided on the furnace side wall at the upper side of the main tuyere 2, a gasified object charge port 5 provided in the furnace side wall at the upper side of the sub tuyere 3, and a gas exhaust port 6 provided in the upper part of the furnace. Combustion gas of at least one of oxygen and air is fed into the furnace through the main tuyere 2 and the sub tuyere 3. Combustible gas generated by the partial combustion of wastes 12 is exhausted to the outside of the furnace through the gas exhaust port 6. The gasified object charge port 5 is formed in a rectangular shape with its height H, width W and furnace inner diameter d satisfying expressions (1) and (2): the expression (1) expresses 0.4≤H/d≤0.6 and the expression (2) expresses 0.4≤H/W≤0.6.
