PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To anneal the magnetic layer of boundary wall surface between recording areas, for example, lands and grooves, in a short period of time with certain annealing power in the manufacture of a magneto-optical recording medium. SOLUTION: A laser beam emitted from a laser beam source 2 is divided with a grating member 4 to form an annealing beam and a tracking detection beam. Of these beams, at least the annealing beam is divided, for example, by a wollaston prism 6, to simultaneously irradiate a plurality of boundary wall surfaces with at least two annealing beams. The composition of an annealing beam emitting device 1 is selected so that the angles and polarization planes to each of the boundary wall surfaces of the optical axes of at least the two annealing beams may be nearly equal.
