PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of displaying a guiding route to a destination in an optimum scale while travelling on a highway. SOLUTION: The navigation device has a vehicle location detection part 22 for detecting a vehicle in which the navigation device is mounted, a map data storage medium 10 in which map data are stored, a display 40 for displaying a map image and a controlling part 25 for conducting route search from a starting point to the destination and setting the guiding route by using map data read from the map data storage medium 10. The controlling part 25 displays the map image on the display 40 for showing a guiding route from an interchange for leaving the highway set by the route search to the destination or a guiding route of a predetermined distance from the interchange while travelling on the highway.
