<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing and retrieval apparatus that allows a user to conduct searches intuitively irrespective of kinds of data, without having to add labels or bookmarks. <P>SOLUTION: The information processing and retrieval apparatus is for storing data and extracting specific data by searching an assembly of a plurality of data, and capable of starting one or a plurality of applications each of which can perform a plurality of operations on the data, and recording the operations performed on the data by each application.
