OBTURATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obturator having a sharp distal tip. SOLUTION: The obturator has an elongate tube 18; a handle 38 disposed at the proximal end; a cutting tip 43 disposed at the distal end of the elongate tube; a cutting part included in the cutting tip; a mounting part located on the proximal end side rather than the cutting part; and two mounting members included in the mounting part of the tip and respectively extended outward with respect to the axis of the tube so as to be frictionally engaged with the inner surface of the tube. At least one of the mounting members extends outward to an outer edge part with respect to the axis of the tube. The obturator further has a means provided at the outer edge part of the at least one mounting member to enhance a friction state between the at least one mounting member and the inner surface of the elongate tube. The means for enhancing the friction state is composed of a large number of serrated parts each of which is engaged with the wall of the tube, thus constituting the obturator to be used for penetrating a patient's body wall.
