A display comprises scanning lines, signal lines, and current drive elements disposed at the intersections of the scanning lines and signal lines and performs display according to the quantity of drive currents supplied to the current drive elements. The quantity of drive currents is determined by the values of the drive currents and the period during which the drive currents are supplied repetitively periodically to the current drive elements. By thus determining the quantity of drive currents, correct gradation control in a feeble current range and reduction of current consumption of the display are realized.
