Electrical conductor, which comprises at least one carbon nanotube, wherein at least one carbon nanotube is filled with a proton-conducting fluid, protons being conductible inside the nanotube by means of applied electrical voltage. In particular the invention relates to a carbon nanotube device, which comprises at least one support having a conductive element, a carbon nanotube, and a proton conducting fluid inside the nanotube, at least one of whose termini binds to said conductive element at a site, so that conduction between said conductive element and the interior of said nanotube is maintained. <IMAGE>
