A mechanical handling system for glass bottles or jars pushes the product along a horizontal plane. The glass product is located upon a transverse belt and is transferred to a second longitudinal-motion belt. The transfer is effected by a profiled pusher that engages with the glass and is supported by a fixed mount. The pusher moves from the zero position through a non-liner path and has a control mechanism regulating the path followed including rotary motion.
