PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic attraction device equipped with a means for readily complying with countermeasures against deterioration to the aging of an attractive layer of the electrostatic attraction device, easily removing substances polluting the surface of the device, and easily repairing the stains and scratches on the attraction layer caused due to use over time. SOLUTION: The electrostatic attraction device includes at least one pair of positive or negative laminar electrodes formed on a holding member; a power supply for providing the electrodes with a potential difference; and an attractive layer being a laminar dielectric material covering the electrodes, wherein a substance is attracted on the attracting layer surface by the electrostatic attraction force caused by polarized charges induced by the attracting layer, the attracting layer being laminar and detachable in the whole area or in the surface layer thereof.
