To produce a device which is light in weight and takes up little space for guiding couplings on model railway vehicles of any systems, a guide template (1) is used which has a T-shaped drawbar (2) consisting of a single component and springs (26, 28) arranged on both sides of the longitudinal axis of the drawbar (DL) and operatively connected by their free ends to the curved branches (13, 14) of the guide template (1). The drawbar (2) is mounted inside the space bounded by the curved branches (13, 14) and the rear edge (12) of the guide template (1), the free end pieces (17, 18) of the drawbar cross-piece (3) resting in the corners (15, 16) formed by the curved branches (13, 14) and the rear edge (12) of the guide template (1) in such a way that they serve alternately as pivots for deflection of the drawbar (2) and, at the same time, as a holder without play when travelling both in a straight line and round curves. <IMAGE>
