PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suede-like artificial leather which has a high color-developing property, excellent physical properties such as strength and light fastness, and hand such as suede hand or surface touch, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This suede-like artificial leather is characterized by containing a pigment in an amount of 0.01 to 5 mass %, being obtained by micronizing ultrafine fiber-forming fibers comprising a water-soluble polymer component and a slightly water-soluble polymer component, comprising a polymer elastomer and a fiber interlacement product comprising a woven or knitted fabric and staple fibers having a specific fiber length, having a woven or knitted fabric-forming single fiber surface exposure degree of 0.3 to 20 % on the opposite side surface of the nonwoven fabric comprising the staple fibers to the surface contacting with the woven or knitted fabric, and having a density of 0.50 to 0.85 g/cm<SP>3</SP>.
