OZONE GENERATOR AND OZONE GENERATING METHOD

An ozone generator and an ozone generating method in which high-concentration ozone is generated with high efficiency without producing any byproduct of Nox from a material gas principally comprising oxygen gas added with no nitrogen. Material gas (25) principally comprising oxygen gas not containing nitrogen is fed into an ozone generator (300), and an AC voltage is applied to generate discharge light of 420 nm or above. An electrode or a dielectric in the discharge region is provided with a photocatalytic substance containing a photocatalytic substance (303) having a band gap of 2.0-2.9 eV, and the gas pressure is sustained in the range of 0.1-0.4 Mpa, thus generating ozone.
