<p>A compressor (100) includes an impeller (124) rotatably mounted in a housing (120) and a base plate (126) fixed to the housing (120) adjacent the impeller (124). The base plate (126) cooperates with the housing (120) to define a diffuser gap (134). The base plate (126) includes a plurality of mechanism support blocks (180). A drive ring (250), mounted to the support blocks (180), is rotationally moveable with respect to the support blocks (108) and the base plate (126). Connected to the drive ring (250) is a diffuser ring (130) that moves in response to movement of the drive ring (250). The diffuser ring (130) can be positioned at any location between a retracted position that is not within the diffuser gap (134) and an extended position within the diffuser gap (134) to constrict the gap opening to control the amount of fluid flowing through the diffuser gap (134).</p> |
