There is provided a sound generation method for basic information having chaos and fractal characteristics. Chaos and fractal characteristics of the basic information having the chaos characteristic and fractal characteristic are calculated and the obtained data is subjected to a predetermined generation rule. The sound generation method includes: a basic information conversion step for converting the basic information having the chaos and fractal characteristics into data which can be subjected to numerical calculation; a step for calculating chaos attractor and fractal characteristic according to the data converted by the basic information conversion step and generating a chaos characteristic space and a fractal characteristic space; and a sound generation step for generating a sound file, according to a predetermined sound generation rule, from data existing in the chaos and fractal characteristic spaces generated in the chaos characteristic space generation step and the fractal characteristic space generation step.
