PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily correct the tilt and the distortion or the like of a picture displayed on a projection type display device. SOLUTION: A 1st angle measuring means 15 measures the tilt of the display device 10 around the optical axis 132 of a projection means 13. A 2nd angle measuring means 16 measures the angle of the optical axis 132 to level. A distance measuring means 17 measures a distance between a projection surface 30 to which the picture is projected by the projection means 13 and the display device 10. A posture control means 18 eliminates the tilt of the display device 10 around the optical axis 132 by controlling the posture of the display device 10. A focusing means 19 aligns the focus of the picture projected from the projection means 13 with the projection surface 30 in accordance with a distance measured by the distance measuring means 17. A picture correction means 20 corrects the distortion of the picture caused by an angle formed by the optical axis 132 with the projection surface 30 based on the angle measured by the 2nd angle measuring means 16.
