PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment agent for a plating film imparting excellent water repellent-oil repellent performance to the face subjected to plating treatment in a faucet or the like, further, making stain typified by fur hard to be deposited, and capable of easily removing deposited stain as well, and a treatment method. SOLUTION: The surface treatment agent for a plating film includes, as an effective component, a copolymer comprising a fluorine-containing compound including a fluorine-containing group and an unsaturated bond, and a compound including a group having complex formability and an unsaturated bond as monomer components.
