A video signal processor receives an input video signal S of a first definition and processes this to provide a picture component signal P e.g. for creating the display of a picture of reduced size, and also to provide a measurement component signal W for the display of a graphical representation of at least one characteristic associated with the input video signal. A video signal generator G generates a video signal V of a second (higher) definition for providing a background signal, and the picture component signal, measurement component signal and video signal P,W,V of the second definition are all combined to provide an output video signal S'. |
