The receiver has a circuit (7) supplied with output of a comparator comparing a radiofrequency (RF) signal with a preset threshold. An attenuator (10) and/or a low pass filter (11) are controlled by a control signal, obtained by integration of the circuit output, to attenuate audio output when the RF signal is less than threshold. The attenuation is a function of frequency of occurrence of passages of the RF signal below threshold. An independent claim is also included for a process of reducing noise in a radio receiver.
