PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glass master disk for an information recording medium wherein polishing traces are reduced. SOLUTION: The glass master disk 10 for the information recording medium wherein a silica glass film 2 is formed on a glass substrate 1 is obtained by applying a solution containing an alkoxy silane on the glass substrate 1 having a flattened surface and then heating the solution to perform hydrolysis reaction of the alkoxy silane.
