PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register accurately and rapidly an ID code between a slave unit and a master unit. SOLUTION: A method of registering the slave unit used by a gauge inspection terminal system into the master unit includes steps of connecting a personal computer to the connecting terminal of the master unit (S11) by a user, and setting a registering mode from an operation input unit (S12). The method further includes steps of starting the registration processing by a registration button by the slave unit 10 (S13), reading an own MAC address (S14), and transmitting it together with a registration request to the master unit 20 (S15). The master unit 20 writes the MAC address in an address memory (S16). After this, the master unit 20 attaches the own MAC address to the reply of the registration request reception, and transmits to the slave unit 10 (S17). The slave unit 10 registers the MAC address (S18). After this, the slave unit 10 transmits the MAC address registration completion of the master unit to the master unit 20 (S19). The master unit 20 inputs predetermined information from the connected personal computer (S20), informs registration work completion to the slave unit 10, and completes this work (S21, S22).
