<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distinguish the kind of a card on the basis of magnetism or a signal of the card to control a magnetic head. <P>SOLUTION: When the card 1 partway passes magnetic reading parts 6a, 6b, a card detection part 9 decides whether magnetic information is detected or not. At that time, when the card 1 is a magnetic card, the information of the card 1 is successively read by the magnetic reading parts 6a, 6b.
