<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coater for a liquid material capable of approximately simultaneously and separately coating a plurality of liquid materials to a predetermined pattern, and a coating method, and to prepare a membrane formed by using the coater and the method, an electronic component provided with such a membrane and an electronic instrument. <P>SOLUTION: The coater is a coater with which at least a first liquid material and a second liquid material different from the first liquid material are coated while relatively moving a coating head having a slit-like flow passage and a delivery port communicated with the flow passage relatively to a substrate to be coated. A first area having higher liquid-affinity with the first liquid material than the second liquid material and a second area having higher liquid-affinity with the second liquid material than the first liquid material are provided on a surface of the flow passage. The first area and the second area are adjacent to each other.
